The Ovalo Higuereta Branch was the first building in South America to obtain the highest level of energy savings in the EDGE Advanced certification in the “office” category.
Lima, January 30, 2024.- BCP obtained the first group of certifications for Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies (EDGE) for BCP branches that have reduced their energy use, water use, and energy embodied in construction materials by at least 20%. This initiative is part of its project for sustainable branches. Edge certification is a global standard that was developed by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), which is part of the World Bank Group, to recognize buildings that use resources efficiently and sustainably.
It is important to note that 9 of BCP’s 14 branches that have EDGE certification have been recognized with Edge Advanced Certification, which means that energy savings are at least 40% and 20% for water and energy use as to make construction materials.
“We are very proud of the recognition we have received for our “sustainable transformation of branches” effort, which is part of our commitment to conserve the environment while providing clients efficient and responsible services. Along these lines, we seek to drive, through example and financing, disbursements of green loans so that more companies begin to implement sustainable initiatives,” said Diego Cavero, General Manager of BCP.
At the Ovalo Higuereta Branch, energy savings under EDGE standards in the office category reached 100% thanks to the use solar panels and air conditioners and illumination that are more energy efficient, among other initiatives. This Branch is the first building in South America to achieve 100% efficiency under EDGE.
The first phase of transformation at BCP’s branches, which was announced last year by the financial entity, has transformed 105 branches and efforts will continue in 2024.
