Lima, March 7, 2024.- In line with its objective to drive financial inclusion in the country, Yape, Peru’s super app, allowed more than 50 thousand Peruvian women to access their first loan from the financial system in 2023 and more than 1.9 million Peruvians were financially included, 50% of whom are women.
“We seek to drive financial inclusion and digitalization in an equitable manner through the different functionalities launched for our Yaperos. Access to formal loans, for example, is proof that we continue to simplify the daily lives of our users with social impact initiatives,” said Marcelo Alzamora, Leader of Financial Inclusion at Yape.
More than 27 thousand microbusinesses in the regions and in rural areas became Yape affiliates in 2023. Most of these microbusinesses are located outside of the capital of the regions and 60% are led by women. Last year, these businesses moved more than S/500 million.
“For us it is especially important to continue including more Peruvians and businesses, not only financially but digitally. This is key to ensuring that more Peruvians can take advantage of the benefits of belonging to the financial system,” added Mr. Alzamora.
Today the super app has 14 million Yaperos and will continue its financial journey through the 10 functionalities it offers, namely mobile top-ups, gas purchases, microloans, payment services, Tienda, Eventos y Fútbol, Yape Promos, Yape Empresa, among others.
