October 22, 2024. The three winning ideas of VOCES por la Conciencia Digital, an initiative of the Credicorp Group that in its third edition brought together more than 4,800 young people from Latin America, were revealed in Bogotá on Monday, October 21. The winning proposals address key topics such as combating bullying, preventing child sexual exploitation, and developing more inclusive education.

The IAContraElMiedo project, presented by Mariajose Forno from Lima, Peru, consists of creating an artificial intelligence-based web extension that monitors conversations on social media and messaging platforms to detect bullying and send alerts, promoting a safer digital environment. EducAI, developed by Elvis Requejo and Josué Domínguez from Cajamarca, Peru, is a web application designed to improve care for children with ADHD, using artificial intelligence to offer personalized support. Finally, GuardIAns, an initiative by Xilene Siquero, a Peruvian resident in Panama, seeks to prevent child sexual exploitation through an educational platform aimed at schoolchildren.

For Gianfranco Ferrari, CEO of the Credicorp Group, VOCES for Digital Conscience reaffirmed young people’s interest in being part of the changes the region needs. “In these three years, more than 10,000 young people have joined the call for change, and we are proud to see what we have built since we created VOCES, because it is urgent to continue acting in each of our countries for progress. Thank you to all the participants for contributing their innovative vision to the creation of unique projects.”

The 10 VOCES finalists had the opportunity to meet in Bogotá, Colombia, where, in addition to sharing experiences with other young people, they also received mentorship from the evaluation committee and Credicorp executives.

“Thanks to the VOCES experience, I have questioned things that I hadn’t considered before, so it represents a change of mindset regarding the idea I proposed,” said Mariajosé Forno, creator of the IAContraElMiedo project.

“VOCES has allowed me to connect with a community of young people in Latin America with innovative ideas and an evaluation committee open to supporting us in making our ideas a reality,” said Xilene Siqueno, representative of the GuardIAns group.

“The lack of a tool that meets the educational needs of children with ADHD motivated me to develop the EducAI initiative,” said Elvis Requejo.

Each of the winning ideas will receive a financial incentive of US$15,000 to further their development. This support is awarded once the teams complete a rigorous learning process and specialized mentoring with experts in the field. Additionally, a representative of each winning idea will attend the One Young World Summit 2025 in Munich, the world’s most important youth summit.

As part of the awards ceremony, Gianfranco Ferrari, CEO of Credicorp, announced the launch of the VOCES Community, a platform accessible to all young people who have submitted ideas starting in 2022. In this way, the Credicorp Group hopes to create a powerful network that generates innovative solutions and inspires other young people who not only dream of a better region, but are also working to make it possible.

With this third edition of VOCES, the financial group reaffirms that the enthusiasm and innovative capacity of young people play a decisive role in the development of Latin America.
